My TPACK Journey

                            Reflection

I have gained numerous skills when learning how to make a sliderocket ebook. I have learned the importance of adding transitions, wordart, special effects, etc. Overall, my knowledge of how a slideshow should look has drastically changed. I now know that the overusage of special effects and designs can take away from the main information on your slideshow. Thus, only using a few special effects and the same transition throughout can improve the quality and appearance of your slideshow, while keeping your viewers engaged.

I enjoyed using the method of project based lesson because I was able to have a final idea in mind. This project almost seemed to be created in a backwards design method, where the finalized ebook was always the target goal. I enjoyed how every week we could learn how to add new things into our ebook (special effects, transitions, audio, etc). I feel confident that I would be able to teach my grade fours how to make an online ebook, and how to incorporate this ebook into their blogger.

Some pedagogical strategies that I learned were to always model everything. The students need to know what is going on and how to do it. I do not think I would have elementary students read posts online about how to do things without giving them some form of direct instruction/ modelling techniques. Also, prior to starting a project like this I would check all available computers and ensure that they are working properly. I would teach the students to always start and finish each step properly before moving on to the next one. This will be a great project!
